2003 JACK SMITH
Member of the Bingham High School Class of 1931
As a high school senior he wrote the words to Bingham’s school fight song Bingham Sons & Daughters
He was a dedicated Bingham Miner who returned to the school countless times to sing the school fight song and tell the story of its beginnings.
He worked for the Kennecott Copper Corporation for 45 years as a welder at the mine and refinery
Member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for 15 years
He entertained at community celebrations for over 35 years as a member of the musical group, the Rivertones
He was a founding member of the National Society to Preserve Barbershop Quartets
He was a member of the Lions’ Club and Little League Baseball rendering countless hours of service to the Bingham community
He will always be remembered at Bingham High as the person who wrote the words for Bingham’s school fight song, Bingham Sons and Daughters, which was put to the music of a popular 1920s tune known as “Sons of Burgundy.”
